About the Flu Vaccination

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness that can cause severe complications. The vaccine is updated annually to protect against the most common strains. Vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older, especially high-risk groups.

Vaccine Schedule & Administration

  • Single dose: Given as an injection in the upper arm or thigh (for children).
  • Best time: Early autumn (September–November) for peak winter protection.
  • Effectiveness: Takes 2 weeks to build immunity and lasts one season.

Common side effects:

Mild soreness at the injection site, low-grade fever, or fatigue (1–2 days).

Who cannot have the vaccine?

Very few people cannot receive the flu vaccine.

  • Severe allergic reactions to previous flu vaccines or ingredients (e.g., egg proteins).
  • Current illness with high fever (postpone until recovered).
